Reading up on Today’s Winner’s homeland got me interested in the linguistics of Southeast Asia and Oceania, somehow. Here’s a helpful, brief academic summary of the subject. The dominant theory seems to be that a whole huge part of the Pacific world was populated out of Taiwan.

Which reminds me, I still have to check out this place for the first time on my annual trip to Southern California.
