Corey Woods,
Jyrki Mänttäri,
Miguel Ayesa,
Zack De La Rocha,
I was once at a Knick game where Zack De La Rocha had courtside seats. On the one hand, wow, that’s not very of-the-people, right? On the other hand, even from several sections up, and from the opposite tier of the Garden, the guy did have a lot more quantifiable rock-star charisma than I ever would have expected. I give Rage Against The Machine credit for breaking up when they did. It’s curious to think that their whole present tense as a working band (as opposed to a nostalgia act) occurred before George W. Bush ever even took office. (Side note to the initiated: They also provided crucial inspiration, or at the very least a name, for the unrealized sequel to Fan Halen, Rage Against The Miami Sound Machine. I really miss Matt Lutz.)
But the day belongs to Today’s Winner. I think of Raekwon as the Robert Mitchum of the Wu Tang Clan, though that statement is open to interpretation, because even I don’t understand what I mean by that. Internet sources vary in the actual year of his birth; this is a recurring theme with musicians. But the IMDb says 1970, so I guess that’s what we’ll stick with.
I still haven’t heard the “Cuban Linx” sequel, but I bet it’s good.
