Aw hell, I don’t know. Hard to pick a winner today.

Let’s make it this one, for being from a state I passed through on a train yesterday. Some random observations about my recent visit to the nation’s capital:

- It’s really amazing to ride a subway system where every station has air conditioning, a working elevator, and audible announcements.

- The National Air and Space Museum is looking as threadbare and out of date as the third worst shopping mall in Cumberland, Tennessee. What is going on? It was mobbed, certainly. It still has the Spirit of St. Louis dangling from the ceiling. It has exhibits sponsored by a variety of leading lights of the military/spycraft/industrial complexitude. But, man, was it ever junky. Paint the walls and replace the carpeting, Smithsonian! Seriously.

- You see a lot of policy advertising on the train. Like, you’re in the subway, and you’ll see an ad for, like, aircraft carrier radar systems. Or Iraq war memoirs. That sort of thing..

- Nationals Park is pleasant, but a little generic.
